Power Pals

Lakeview Light customers are well aware that electric rates have increased. And there is legislation in the works at the federal level that would raise our rates even more. It could also create the kinds of deregulation problems that led to the California energy crisis.

To combat this type of manipulation, we have created a program that will enable our customers to speak up and tell their feelings directly to the folks responsible for making the decisions about our power supply – our legislators.

We call it the Lakeview Light Brigade. It gives our customers a chance to take a stand against rising electric rates.

To be a member of the Lakeview Light Brigade, you must sign up to be a Lakeview Power Pal. As a Pal you will receive briefings on current issues affecting public power – and your electric rates.

In turn, we hope you’ll contact your elected officials to express your feelings on legislation affecting your power rates, supply and service – and your electric co-op. We’ll also welcome your ideas on other programs and services.

Right now, legislation is being proposed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) which would likely increase your power bill even more. FERC wants to change the way the Northwest has been buying, selling and transmitting energy for over six decades.

FERC’s other proposal would force Northwest utilities – including Lakeview Light – to buy time to use the very transmission grid that we already pay to operate. This means you’ll have to pay twice for the same services!

In addition, these proposals would create a similar situation that led to the California energy shambles, and allowed manipulation of electric rates by Enron and other big power brokers.

We think our customers are genuinely concerned about rising electricity rates. We hope you’ll agree that this is a dangerous situation and will want to do something about it. Speak out against rising electric rates! Join our Light Brigade.
